Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) – General
The Elder Scrolls Online is an MMORPG that stands for “Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game”. It was developed by ZeniMax Media, and published by Bethesda Softworks. It was released first for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X in April 2014. Later, it was released for Xbox One (PS4) and PS4 (PS4) in June 2015.
This game allows you to explore different areas of Tamriel. You can see landscapes from the previous games and new areas such as Summerset Isle. ESO’s three alliances are a unique feature that makes it stand out.
You can choose to be a member of one of three Alliances in the game: The Aldmeri Dominion or The Daggerfall Covenant. ESO is praised for its constant updates and expansions that have built upon the solid foundation laid in 2014.
While most players are satisfied with the game, there has been one question that has remained unanswered since its release: Is ESO cross-platform? Let’s now find out if ESO works across platforms.
Is ESO Cross Platform in 2022?
The Elder Scrolls Online doesn’t support cross-platform play in the traditional sense. Xbox and PS4 players will not be able to engage with PC players. Xbox players won’t see PC players. But, the new generation consoles were released in 2020. This is how it works.
- PC gamers have their own servers, and will not be matched by any other players.
- Xbox players have a shared server between Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.
- PlayStation users have a shared server between PS4 and PS5.
- Stadia players can share a server together with the PC community.
This means Elder Scrolls Online cross platform gaming is not a thing. However, you can use the same console with different versions. We believe that many console gamers will continue to enjoy cross-generational features of games such as ESO, even though they have not yet made the switch to the latest generation.

Will The Next-Gen Update Impact Elder Scrolls Online Crossplay?
The ESO originally ran on both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S through backward compatibility. Although your game ran a little faster due to the new hardware, it was still exactly the same game it was many years ago.
That all changed on June 8, with the massive graphical overhaul that came to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The world of Tamriel has been rendered more vividly than ever before. However, you can still play with your friends on the last-generation consoles.
ESO’s cross platform play is only available within the same family of consoles. This means that all Xbox consoles can share one server, and all PlayStation consoles can share another. Although It’s not true Elder Scrolls Online cross-play support, at least each individual console isn’t relegated to its own private server.

Is Cross-Play In Development For The Elder Scrolls Online?
Zenimax Online Studios currently has no plans to bring cross-platform play over to ESO. Neither of the servers has low player counts – in fact – Merging servers is not a topic the studio has discussed much. ZOS is focusing on Deadlands expansion for its PC/console debuts.
The Elder Scrolls Online – Deadlands will be released for PC and Mac on November 1, 2022. Console users will need to wait until November 16 in order to enter the gates of Oblivion to experience Mehrunes Dagon’s realm. This expansion, like any other zone, will offer new environments to explore and new bosses to conquer.
There will also be bigger and more difficult feats that can’t be done alone. While we only have a small glimpse of the Deadlands expansion, we will be able to see a new world through ESO content. We also make a point to pay tribute to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
The developers are focusing their attention on other major projects such as the Deadlands expansion. It’s clear that cross platform play for ESO is not high on Zenimax’s priority list. For now, we will all have to accept in-family cross-play support. Stadia and PC users will still share one server, with Xbox consoles populating another and PlayStation consoles populating a third.
Is ESO Cross-Platform Stadia?
ESO is not cross-platform on PS4, Xbox One, or PC. However, ESO in Stadia is. Stadia lets you play ESO on supported devices over wired or wireless internet connections. It also supports cross-progression and PC crossplay, so you can continue your adventures and switch between platforms (PC/Mac) at will. A stadia is a great tool for exploring Tamriel.
